Safety Reflective Tape, Vinyl Letters, Artist’s Memories
Artists are invited to use the walls as their “canvases.” Orange tape traces the edges of the transitional space. Vinyl letters are individually applied to the gallery walls at the artist’s height (5’2”), as she recalls memories from childhood to the present, in chronological order. Done strictly in the moment, there is no planning. Memories progress with the physical world. Her life must fit within that defined space, carefully keeping an eye on the amount of ‘canvas’ remaining as she progresses with her letters. Choices are made. A life is being recalled. The viewer paints the picture. Text begins from left, travels along the walls, over the windows, and back around to the right.
